CSN-NFA is the collective bargaining organization for full-time teaching faculty, counselors, and librarians employed at the College of Southern Nevada. We are proud members of Nevada Faculty Alliance and affiliates of the American Association of University Professors' Collective Bargaining Congress.
CSN-NFA began about 30 years ago as an advocacy chapter of NFA, a professional organization dedicated to upholding the AAUP rights and values of academic freedom, tenure, shared governance, and due process at the eight colleges and universities comprising the Nevada System of Higher Education. Over these decades, NFA has served its CSN members by responding to their unique concerns: helping them resolve employment disputes on salary, scheduling, supervision, etc.; guiding them through college grievance procedures; providing legal advice and consultation when warranted. Through public meetings, newsletters, workshops, and its members' participation in Faculty Senate and various college and department committees, CSN-NFA has also worked to advance faculty professionalism and high standards of academic excellence, thereby improving educational opportunities for CSN students.

Why Join US
In April 2016, after 18 months of collegial organizing--including one-to-one outreach to most of CSN's full-time faculty, members and non-members of NFA--an election on the question of unionizing was held, and the resounding answer of the majority was "Yes!" Now, more than ever, as we bargain with CSN Administration to create our first Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), you and NFA need each other. By joining NFA, if you are not yet a member, and becoming a more active participant in efforts to make visible faculty's interests in pay equity, raises to base pay, transparent and fair discipline and grievance procedures, and provisions for contract arbitration, among others, you empower NFA's ability to bargain on your behalf. Read our CSN-NFA blog, to stay abreast of the latest news from your bargaining team. Attend a bargaining session--one may be scheduled soon for your campus--to show your support of contract negotiation. Watch your email for general meeting announcements, and then come to share the information, camaraderie, refreshments, and fun! Above all, your NFA membership tells everyone you care enough for your profession, your colleagues, and your students to unite in one voice that strives to improve our working conditions and our students' learning conditions. Working with NFA is the "rights" thing to do.
